Trying to Immigrate the Right Way to Canada

Lee 14th December 2018 Leave a Comment 310 Views

Immigration is a hot topic nowadays and doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. If you go back in time a hundred or two hundred years ago, countries usually had an open door policy. They didn’t exactly roll out the red carpet and make things easy for the person, but if they were willing to work hard and live an honest life, they could make a living just about wherever they chose. However, just like Bob Dylan said so many years ago, the times they are a-changing.

If you go back far enough in your family tree, you are able to see here how to do that, you can pinpoint exactly what year your ancestors first immigrated to the country that you live in now. There is a very good chance that they were able to acquire citizenship much simpler than a person can today. Or at the very least, right or wrong, they just lived in the country without any actual citizenship involved.

Fast Forward to Immigration Today

If you want to emigrate to another country legally today, you have to have your affairs in order. You can’t just show up at the border and knock on the door and expect to be let in with open arms. It just doesn’t work that way anymore. It takes months, if not years, of planning and making sure you have taken all the necessary actions to be accepted into the country.

Welcome to Canada

Canada is being looked at by many people who are searching for a new place to live. And there are good reasons for this interest. Crime is not as prevalent in Canada as it is in most places. The firearms murder rate is more than six times higher in the United States than it is in Canada. They have also had universal healthcare since the 1960s, eliminating costly health insurance premiums. Plus, if you have ever spent time in Canada, it just seems like the people are more pleasant over there than most other countries.

Making the Change

If you are indeed looking at making Canada your new home, you might want to ask an immigration lawyer in Montreal what your first steps should be in the process. They will be able to guide you along the path to the Canadian citizenry. Soon enough you will be talking with an accent and hockey will become your new favorite sport!
